MOSCOW,April26(Xinhua)--RussiancosmonautsOlegKononenkoandNikolaiChubcompletedtheirspacewalktasksaheadofschedule,returningtotheInternationalSpaceStation(ISS)twohoursearlierthanplanned,Russia'sstatespacecorporationRoscosmossaidonThursday.Roscosmossaidthatthespacewalklastedatotaldurationof4hoursand36minutes.Duringthespacewalk,KononenkoandChubbroughttheradaroftheNapor-miniRSAexperimentintoworkingcondition.TheyalsoinstalledequipmentforthePerspektiva-KSexperiment,whichinvolvescompositematerialsthatautonomouslyassumetherequiredgeometricshape.ThecosmonautsalsoplacedscientificexperimentapparatusKvartz-Monthestation'sexteriorandremovedtheBiorisk-MSNexperimentcontainerfromthePoiskmodule.Theyalsodeployedapressureanddepositioncontrolunitonthesamemodule.Atthebeginningofthespacewalk,theycollectedsamplesfortheTestexperimentfromthesurfaceoftheNaukamodule.TheNapor-miniRSAexperimentisaimedatEarthobservationusingasyntheticapertureradar.TheKvartz-Mexperimentstudiesthecorrosionofthestation'sexteriorundertheinfluenceoftheupperatmosphere.ThePerspektiva-KMexperimentisdesignedtotestthetechnologyforcreatingdeployablestructuresinorbitmadefromlayeredcompositematerialswithashapememoryeffect,meaningtheycanreturntotheiroriginalgeometricshapeafterbeingfolded.TheBiorisk-MSNandTestexperimentsareintendedtostudytheresistanceofthestation'smaterialstobacteriaandfungilivingonit,aswellasemissionsfromthestation'senginesanddockedships.KononenkoandChubhavebeenaboardtheISSsinceSept.21,2023.TheirfirstjointspacewalktookplaceonOct.25-26,2023,duringwhichtheydetachedhydrauliccircuitsfromaleakingadditionalheatexchangerontheNaukamodule,launchedthestudentnanosatelliteParus-MGTU,andinstalledacompactradarwithasyntheticaperturefortheNapor-miniRSAexperiment,althoughtheradarpanelswerenotfullydeployed.Aspartoftheirexpedition,KononenkoandChubareexpectedtoconductuptofourspacewalks.Priortothis,Kononenko,whoisonhisfifthmissiontotheISS,hasconductedsixspacewalks,whileChubhascompletedone.■Editor:DisclaimerTheviewsandopinionsexpressedinthisarticlearethoseoftheauthor's,GMW.cnmakesnorepresentationsastoaccuracy,suitability,orvalidityofanyinformationonthissiteandwillnotbeliableforanyerrors,omissions,ordelaysinthisinformation.
