ChinainaDecade:EnhancementofOverallNationalStrengthwithRisingGlobalInfluences_GuangmingOnlineChinainaDecade:EnhancementofOverallNationalStrengthwithRisingGlobalInfluencesByZhangAndiSincethe18thNationalCongressoftheCPC,inthefaceofthechanginginternationalsituation,thesuddenoutbreakoftheCovid-19pandemic,andthedeeprecessionoftheworldeconomy,thePartyCentralCommitteewithComradeXiJinpingatitscorehascoordinatedChina’sresponsetotheunprecedentedchangesoftheworldandledthewholePartyandChineseofallethnicitiestoforgeaheadtowardstherejuvenationoftheChinesenation.Chinahasmadehistoricachievementinsocialandeconomicdevelopment,itspositionasamajoreconomicpowerhasconsolidated,percapitaGDPhasrisentoanewhigh,people’slivingstandardshavedramaticallyimproved,andChina’soverallnationalstrengthhasbeenenhancedwitharisingglobalinfluence.I.Higheconomicgrowthwithmainindicatorsrankingamongthetopintheworld1.ChinaremainsthepowerhouseofworldeconomyFrom2013to2021,China'seconomygrewatanaverageannualrateof6.6%,muchhigherthantheworldaveragegrowthrateof2.6%inthesameperiod.China'saveragecontributionratetoworldeconomicgrowthreached38.6%,higherthanthecombinedcontributionrateofG7countries.2.China’sGDPrankssecondintheworldIn2021,China’sGDPreachedUS$17.7trillion,accountingfor18.5%oftheglobaltotal,up7.2percentagepointsover2012.3.TheoutputofmajorindustrialandagriculturalproductssteadilyrankamongthetopintheworldAgriculturaloutputhasmaintainedsteadygrowth.Since2012,theoutputofgrain,meat,peanuts,andteahassteadilyrankedfirstglobally,andtheoutputofrapeseedshassteadilyrankedsecond.TheoutputofChina’smajorindustrialproductshassteadilyincreased.Amongthem,theoutputofcrudesteel,coal,powergeneration,cement,fertilizer,automobiless,microcomputersandcellphonessandotherindustrialproductshassteadilyrankedNo.1intheworld;in2021,China’scrudeoilproductionrankedfifthintheworld.4.China’stotalforeigntradevolumenowranksfirstintheworldChina’stotalforeigntraderosefromUS$4.4trillionin2012toUS$5.3trillionin2020,surpassingtheU.S.astheworld’slargesttradingcountry.In2021,China’stotalforeigntradeincreasedtoUS$6.9trillion,furtherconsolidatingitsNo.1positionintheworld.China’sshareofglobaltradeingoodshasrisensteadily.In2021,China’stradeingoodshitUS$6.1trillion,faroutperformingthe2012levelofUS$3.9trillion,accountingfor13.5%oftheworld’stotal.Thescaleofforeigntradeinservicescontinuestoexpand.Since2012,China’sforeigntradeinserviceshasincreasedyearbyyear,reachingUS$821.2billionin2021,accountingfor7.2%oftheglobaltotal,up1.8percentagepointsover2012.5.China’sutilizationofFDIisamongthehighestintheworldChina’sactualuseofforeigndirectinvestmentrosefrom$113.3billionin2012to$173.5billionin2021,withanaverageannualgrowthof4.8%,andhassteadilyrankedNo.2globallysince2020.6.ChinaleadstheworldinconstructionofmodernfacilitiesModerntransportationandcommunicationfacilitiesinChinaareworldleading.Attheendof2021,Chinahadbuiltandopenedatotalof1.425million5Gbasestations,accountingformorethan60%oftheglobaltotal;andthenumberofterminalsconnectedto5Gnetworkaccountedformorethan80%oftheglobaltotal.Theoperatingmileageofhigh-speedrailwayinChinareached40,000km,up3.3timesfrom2012,rankingfirstontopoftheworld.Highwaymileagereached169,000km,up0.8timesfrom2012,rankingfirstintheworld.China’sconstructionofdigitalandITfacilitieshasseenleapfrogdevelopment.ThenumberoffixedbroadbandusersinChinaincreasedfrom180millionin2012to540millionin2021,withanaverageannualgrowthof13.2%,ranking1stintheworld.Thenumberofcellphonesusersincreasedfrom1.11billionin2012to1.64billion,withanaverageannualgrowthof4.4%,rankingfirstglobally.Internetpenetrationratereached73%,30.9percentagepointshigherthanin2012.II.Significantimprovementofpercapitaincomeandmainlivelihoodindicators1.NewleapinpercapitaGNIIn2021,China’spercapitagrossnationalincome(GNI)reachedUS$11,890dollars,anincreaseofonefoldcomparedwith2012.IntheGNIrankingpublishedbytheWorldBank,China’sGNIpercapitarosefrom112thin2012to68thin2021,aleapof44places.2.GreatcontributionstoglobalreductionofpovertyThe98.99millionruralpoorChinahadasoftheendof2012wereallliftedoutofpovertyby2020,markingthefulleradicationofabsolutepoverty.ChinahadachievedthepovertyreductiontargetsetbytheUN2030AgendaforSustainableDevelopment10yearsaheadofschedule–agreatcontributiontothecauseofpovertyreductionintheworld.III.China’sinnovationcapacityandglobalcompetitivenesshavebeensignificantlyenhanced1.ContinuousriseinglobalinnovationrankingIn2021,Chinaranked12thintheGlobalInnovationIndexissuedbytheWorldIntellectualPropertyOrganization,upfromthe34thplacein2012.ThenumberofenterpriseslistedintheWorldTop500ranksontopoftheworld.2.ThenumberofenterpriseslistedintheWorldTop500ranksontopoftheworldSince2012,thenumberofChinesecompaniesontheFortuneGlobal500listhascontinuedtoincrease.AftersurpassingtheUnitedStatesforthefirsttimein2018,Chinahasrankedfirstgloballyforfourconsecutiveyears.In2021,thenumberofChineseenterprisesonthelistreachedanewhighof145;withacombinedturnoveraccountingfor30.6%ofalltop500enterprises.Editor:DisclaimerTheviewsandopinionsexpressedinth
